Wonderfish Films

Wonderfish Films is the brainchild of Ryan Fischer, a former software engineer turned filmmaker, born in Appleton, WI, and raised in Charlotte, NC. In 1997, he attended the Governor's School of North Carolina at Salem College, concentrating in mathematics while also being nominated for English. He cites it as one of the most formative experiences of his life. After attending UNC-Chapel Hill, where he studied communication with a focus on media production and creative writing, he spent several years as a software engineer including three years in central Florida.

Since 2019, he has given back by volunteering for the Governor's School Foundation of North Carolina, serving on the board of directors, specializing in database management and video production. Along the way, he briefly explored comedy writing, taking improv classes at Charlotte Comedy Theater. A short-lived software engineering contract in Manhattan, which returned him to Charlotte at the onset of the COVID pandemic, helped right his path and refocus on his deep-rooted love of film.

In 2023, he left the tech industry to pursue options trading full-time and devote himself to his true passion—filmmaking. He has since completed two short films and two feature scripts.
